Outstanding hamam. Rooms small but perfect In Every detail. Excellent TV and WiFi. Staff acts as if it has been waiting just for you all day.

There was no chair, and you couldn't sit up in bed as there was some awkward shaped bedhead that was sticking into your back.

This hotel has many good points.

The only way to avoid this is by going to the lavatory with the light off. No, we didn't find that helpful either.

Amazing hotel. We nearly extended our stay but couldn't cancel other booking at other location we were planning to visit. Amazingly friendly staff. Beaucoup location. Love it. Will stay again.

    So why the poor rating?

Some bright spark had a clever idea - “Let's shoehorn in a double bed, then we can charge more, and also we won't have an empty room if a couple want to stay!”

There was instead a 15” gap in a wall, with a pole and 2 coat-hangers.

    Because there was no wardrobe.

The room had a floorplan on the door, showing the position of your room and the emergency exits. And guess what?

“The problem is that you booked by internet, you should have booked a different type of room, we have several you could have chosen”.

There was only one bedside table (one side of the bed had the mini-bar instead, with no glasses, so drink from the bottle), only one bedside lamp. Only one person reading?

    The room . . .

So the bedroom was inconvenient and cramped. But the worst part was the attitude of the lady at reception, telling me that I should have booked a different room.

For a start it gives a whole new meaning to “en suite” as the shower cubicle is in the bedroom, right in front of you as you open the bedroom door. There's nowhere to leave your towel while showering, except on the bedroom floor, so with wet slippery feet you have to walk to the little “bathroom” to get your towel. Slippery feet because there's no room for a bathmat – if you take the one from the “bathroom”, it just gets pushed aside when you open the shower door. There's no extractor fan in the shower cubicle either.

I went downstairs to Reception and asked the young lady at the desk where we should put our clothes. This was the reply. The conversation was in Spanish, and I am a Spanish speaker, so there was no mis-understanding.

My stay in this hotel was superb! The staff was extremely hospitable and very friendly, the hotel is beautiful and the services offered by their spa are utterly relaxing. I feel refreshed after my stay in Plaza Vieja hotel.

Excuse me? It's my fault for having booked that cramped and inconvenient room?
  • Fernanda

Excellent position, near all the bars, restaurants, shops, museums and sights.

So if I had rung the hotel to book, they would have told me that it was cramped and inconvenient, we would have to spend the whole weekend bending down to get our clothes out of the suitcases on the floor, and they suggest therefore that we don't book it?

The “bathroom” isn't, of course, it's just a small lavatory with washbasin. Again no extractor fan, and the attractive washbasin leaves no room to put two people's washbags. One has to go on the floor.

What this means is that when you are inside, sitting on the lavatory, you are perfectly visible. If you have the light on. And when you go to leave, as the lighting outside even with all the lights on is less good than inside the lavatory, you are faced with the mirror door, and can't see if there is anyone outside about to be hit by the door as you exit. Ouch!

The hotel was clean, the bed comfortable, the fittings were very modern.
  • Ximena
    Adicional 2013.07.29
But an extra feature of the “bathroom” is the door. It's made of some specially treated glass which is sometimes mirror faced, sometimes see-through. One would have expected it to be mirror when looking in to the lavatory from outside, and clear looking out into the room. No, it doesn't work that way. It is clear when looking towards the area with more light, and mirror when looking from the well-lit area.

On this floorplan our room was clearly shown, but with – a single bed!

The room itself was very cramped and inconvenient. Unbelievably so!
  • Micaela

Excellent location, but very disappointed with room, and above all with staff attitude.
  • Sara

There was only one pillow each because, unlike in other hotels where there are extra pillows, and often extra blankets too, in the wardrobe, here there were none.

The hotel details in the room told us we could have breakfast in the room, or even room service. But where could they put the tray? And where could you eat the food? Sitting on the lavatory?
